Introduction to RS232

RS-232 is a serial communication interface Standard, whose full name is Recommended Standard 232. It was formulated by the Electronic Industries Association (EIA) of the United States and is used for serial data transmission between computers, peripherals and industrial equipment.

RS-232 was born in the 1960s and was the main way for early computers to communicate with peripherals (such as printers and modems). Although it is gradually being replaced by interfaces such as USB nowadays, it is still widely used in industrial control, embedded systems, and the maintenance of old equipment.
